Mercedes-Benz to add new gadgets to its small cars to attract young buyers

In an attempt to attract younger buyers for its lineup of small cars, Mercedes-Benz is planning to add new gadgets such as cameras, radars and Web access. Apparently, Mercedes-Benz hopes to give younger buyers the feel of the S-Class flagship sedan. The German carmaker is planning to bring the new B-Class and three new compacts to the United States and wants to boost deliveries to more than 1.5 million vehicles by 2015 from 1.3 million this year.

Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche wants to see new smaller cars from Mercedes-Benz in order to regain market share from its main rivals such as Audi and Bmw, according to Autonews. As you may know already, Mercedes-Benz small cars were not quite successful and due to this, the German manufacturer is planning to replace the boxy A-Class with a brand new hatchback, which will take on the Audi A3 and the Bmw 1-Series.

Moreover, Mercedes-Benz has to attract new customers, as its average buyers in the United States are 54 years old, while Bmw owners a with four years older. Audi buyers are the youngest, with six year younger than Mercedes-Benz buyers. [via - 4wheelsnews]
